Bedford, VA, September 9, 2015: LiteSheet Solutions LLC completed a pilot run of a new Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production line installed at the Little Otter facility in Bedford, VA. The Manncorp Inc (Huntington Valley, PA) pick and place robotic system and 4 stage reflow oven can produce over 500 LED boards per hour. The completion of the pilot phase enables LiteSheet to begin production in house rather than relying on subcontractors to supply the boards. “Being able to control our own production gives us the ability to better monitor quality and consistency,” according to Debbie Cebry, Director of Manufacturing Operations. “We can produce boards in hours for mixed lots of lights rather than waiting 2-3 weeks to receive product from our contract houses.”
Bringing LED and driver board manufacturing in house gives LiteSheet a competitive advantage for product mix flexibility and delivery time. “We’ve cut our delivery time from weeks to days for dozens of products in our catalog,” says Roger Whyte, LiteSheet CEO. “We are also proud to deliver on our commitment to bring jobs to the Bedford area.” LiteSheet has added two employees to its local workforce since the SMT line was installed last spring. The modular design of the equipment will allow LiteSheet to quickly scale production to meet sales growth and the widening range of light fixtures offered to the market.
